CSTP Growth and Development

Professional Growth Goal:

The goal that I set for myself this year was "to help parents meet the needs of their individual students and their different learning modalities."

After comparing my Initial CSTP and CSTP Self-Assessments, I learned a lot about myself.  My strengths are Understanding and Organizing Subject Matter for Student Learning, Developing as a Professional Educator, and Creating and Maintaining Effective Environments.  I also scored well in Assessing Students for Learning.  These strengths aren't necessarily surprising to me since I have been teaching for several years, but it is still encouraging to have those attributes affirmed.  I love learning, so I tend to immerse myself in the subjects I am teaching and have a good knowledge of the content.   Also, I personally function in a well-structured classroom, so I work hard to maintain order and hold students to a high standard.

Areas that still need further work are Engaging and Supporting All Students in Learning, and Planning Instruction Experiences for all Students.  Although these are still growth areas, I can tell that I have improved in these areas this year.  My ILP's were focused on meeting individual needs and developing lessons around those, so I have already seen improvement in these areas.  When I was filling out the assessment, I was considering myself as a teacher in a brick and mortar classroom where it is more challenging to meet the needs of different learning modalities.  However, I feel like I have improved exponentially in those areas.  It has helped me to be more aware of differentiating lessons because of all the work and reflection focused on that.  I am most proud of my ability to adapt and be creative with meeting the needs of individual learners.
